Porcelain Crowns

Porcelain crowns are the aesthetic dental solution for damaged teeth. Occasionally you may have a tooth crack or break because of tooth decay, teeth grinding, or a variety of other reasons. When this happens, it's likely that Dr. Morton will repair the damaged tooth with a natural-looking porcelain crown that will be virtually indistinguishable from a real tooth.

Porcelain crowns can be made entirely of porcelain or porcelain in combination with a metal such as silver or gold. Dr. Morton generally uses all-porcelain crowns to fix damaged front teeth, for these crowns look and reflect light most like natural teeth. Combination porcelain-metal crowns are stronger than all-porcelain crowns and are nearly as aesthetically pleasing as their all-porcelain counterparts. Dr. Morton will replace damaged back teeth with these excellent crowns.

A porcelain crown procedure usually requires two visits to our Ballston Lake office. To prepare your tooth for the porcelain crown, Dr. Morton carefully shapes the remaining portion of your tooth. He makes an impression of the affected area to create a porcelain crown that matches the surrounding teeth so effectively that it is nearly undetectable. On your second visit to our office, Dr. Morton bonds the new porcelain crown to the shaped tooth, and your smile is once again perfect. The porcelain crown will match your teeth so well that you may forget which tooth was damaged.

Porcelain Bridges

If you’ve had the unfortunate luck of losing a tooth, porcelain dental bridges are available at our Ballston Lake office to improve your smile and oral health. While there are different types of porcelain bridges, the most common type consists of a replacement tooth fused between two crowns. The dental crowns fit over the teeth on either side of the gap to secure the replacement tooth in place.

Fixing a gap caused by a lost tooth is important for aesthetic reasons, but it is also critical to saving adjacent teeth and reducing the risk of gum disease and shifting.

Tooth-Colored Onlays

Tooth-colored onlays are the progressive dental repair solution for fixing damaged teeth with extraordinarily natural-looking results. When cavities take an undue toll on one or more of your teeth, tooth-colored onlays may be the answer to both repairing your teeth and giving you an exceptionally beautiful smile.

Tooth-colored onlays are made of porcelain that mimics the natural color of your teeth almost perfectly. Dr. Morton recommends tooth-colored onlays when a tooth's structure is insufficient to receive a filling. Our onlays are actually superior to fillings because they strengthen the tooth better and give an improved aesthetic appearance.

As with porcelain crowns, the procedure for tooth-colored onlays requires two visits to our Ballston Lake office. In the first visit, Dr. Morton will take impressions of the affected tooth or teeth so that your porcelain onlays can be created for a perfect match to your teeth. In the second visit Dr. Morton will plasma bond the natural-looking onlays so that they almost become one with your natural tooth structure. Your tooth-colored onlays will look and feel just like your natural teeth, and only you will know that onlays have improved your smile.

Tooth-Colored Fillings

Progressive dentistry utilizes the best materials in dentistry, gone are the days of dark silver fillings. Revolutionary tooth colored filling material mimics the actual layers of natural tooth to give the best lifelike appearance. The days of unattractive metal fillings are over, thanks to tooth-colored fillings.

Since tooth-colored fillings come in a wide variety of shades and colors, Dr. Morton is able to effectively match the color of your filling to your natural tooth color.

Durable and long lasting, tooth-colored fillings offer a great alternative to metal fillings. Unlike metal fillings, it is virtually impossible to detect tooth-colored fillings. Many patients have Dr. Morton replace their large, black, and often corroded metal fillings on back teeth both for aesthetic reasons and because tooth-colored fillings strengthen the tooth and provide a better seal against recurring decay.

Dr. Morton applies the tooth-colored filling in layers, hardening each layer with a special light as he progresses. The entire procedure can be completed in 20 minutes. Beyond the obvious aesthetic benefits, tooth-colored fillings help to strengthen teeth and protect them from further damage.
